Finding Favor
But Noah found favor with the Lord.
Genesis 6:8
Finding favor with God will lead to a generation being giving access to a vessel of grace and mercy that shelters them from the coming storm of that age.
The modern day definition of favor is unfortunately wrapped up into the material possessions of our day. We look upon the life of an individual and assess whether they have the fruits of man made results to deem if that person has the favor of God upon their life.
Favor for Noah looked life sacrificing over seventy years to build a vessel to protect humanity from something the earth had never seen before. It wasn’t using His gift as a preacher of righteousness to produce the man made result of building a big ministry. The favor of God instead gave Him the ability to build a big boat. That boat would then become the vessel that would have saved the world. Despite the whole world rejecting Noah’s offer to board the boat that vessel became the very thing that preserved his family. That vessel became the very thing that allowed them to weather the storm of their day.
The favor of God upon ones life should produce the result of preservation of family. The favor of God that humanity has been tricked to believe has destroyed family more than it has preserved it. The family unity has been the innocent bystander to the pursuit of worldly favor not Godly favor. The world absolutely has a version of favor. Somehow the body of Christ has been tricked to believe what the world calls favor is what God calls favor.
Study the lives of the prophets and apostles and God will redefine what favor looks like for you. God’s favor is never about ones self. God’s favor is a sacrificed life to the will of God which generally calls you to spend your whole life building something that is more for the world than for yourself. If you chase this version of favor, even if the world rejects what God had you build, rest assure that your family will reap the benefits!
I would like to suggest one doesn’t find favor, favor finds you.
