New Year’s Resolution
In our culture, the New Year is all about New Year’s Resolutions. We strive to make a commitment to change something inside of us that will make our lives better or to accomplish a certain goal we set for the New Year.
I want to invite you this year to make a New Year’s Resolution, never to make another New Year’s Resolution again!
That’s right! Too many Christians are relying on traditions, formulas and strategies created by the world in order to have a better life. I want to offer up a better way!
This year make a New Year’s Relationship with the God of the universe! The God that created you and formed you in your mother’s womb!
“Now the earth was formless and empty”. – Genesis 1:2
When God created everything, the earth was formless.
Many Christians have a relationship with God that is based off of us wanting God to bless “our” form that we have already created. We come to Him with our pre-packaged life instead of being surrendered to a formless life.
Let this New Year be the year that you enter into a relationship with your Heavenly Father that you allow yourself to be formless. God started creating the world out of something that was a formless mass. In order for God to create in your life you have to allow yourself to be just that, formless.
When you are formless you are formable.
It takes faith in order to become formless.
When we are growing up almost every adult you encounter asks, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” This question begins the process of us trying to figure out our own life.
We need a generation of parents that has the courage to train their kids up with a different mindset.
The question shouldn’t be “what do I want to be?” the question should be what has God created me to be? We need parents to stop teaching their kids that the medical field is one of the most secure industries to work in, instead, they should be saying your only security is in the will of God!
Whatever your age, dare to approach God in this New Year, formless. Truly tell God, “not my will” but Yours be done!
